Lake Paulina Hike with Bruce and Danna

Saturday, June 6th, we set out for a day hike that turned out to be one of those perfectly balanced adventures—sunny skies, crisp air, good company, and just enough miles to feel accomplished without overdoing it. Even though the sun was out and everything looked picture-perfect, there was still a noticeable chill in the air. It was one of those days where you’re grateful for layers in the morning but eventually warm up just enough to get comfortable as you move along. We decided on an out-and-back route along the lake, making our way toward the warm springs. The trail was peaceful, hugging the shoreline with scenic views the entire way. All in, we covered just over four miles round trip—long enough to stretch our legs, but relaxed enough to spend more time talking and taking in the surroundings than pushing the pace. The lake itself felt like the centerpiece of the day. Between the sunlight reflecting off the water and the steady rhythm of walking alongside it, everything just felt… easy. After finishing up the hike, we switched gears and drove over to the lodge. That post-hike moment—when you finally sit down after being on your feet—is always one of the best parts. We grabbed some snacks and settled into Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake, just soaking it all in. No rush, no agenda, just good company and a great view. From there, we made one last stop to round out the day: a short drive over to East Lake. That’s where we ended up at the Blue ___ Grill (I’ll have to double-check the exact name!), and it honestly hit the spot. Burgers and drinks never taste better than they do after a hike, and this was no exception. It felt like the perfect reward for a simple but memorable day outdoors. All in all, it wasn’t a huge expedition or anything overly intense—but that’s what made it so good. A little fresh air, a little movement, great scenery, and even better company. Sometimes that’s all you need.
